"Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God."

Mike Fritscher has been the pastor of Cottonwood Baptist Church near Dublin, TX since 1985. At the time of his arrival, Cottonwood was a small country church with only a handful of faithful attenders. Dreaming of one day pastoring a large metropolitan church, Mike intended to stay only until he completed his last 18 months of seminary. But God had something better in mind.

In 1987 God began to do a different and dramatic work in Mike’s life. And in doing so, He asked him to "die to his dreams." As he submitted to the Lord, Mike was filled with a contentment to pastor his current congregation of 40 or 50 people for the rest of his life, if that is indeed what God had for him. He only asked two things of the Lord: that He would satisfy him with His presence, and that these forty people would love one another.

Not only did God answer that prayer, he also gave Mike a message of freedom, hope and the pursuit of God’s glory. That message, along with Mike's passionate style of preaching, filled to overflowing the pews of that tiny country church with people hungry for the Word of God. Cottonwood has now become a regional church, serving about a 900 regular attenders from 6 different counties.

Mike's unique style of preaching is a simple approach of allowing scripture to “illustrate” scripture. It is an approach that hopefully will saturate the listener in God’s Word, thus fulfilling the scripture’s promise to wash the believer in every area of his life. Living on Every Word seeks to do just that – wash it’s listeners in the Word of God!

Mike was born in New Orleans, and at the age of 10, sensed a call to pastor. Straight out of high school, he began pursuing this call as a youth pastor in Houston, Texas. He later attended Houston Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.

Mike has been married to his wife, Jon Anne since 1981, and they have three children: Jeremy, Lauren, and Ashlyn.
